The Final Mile

Walk a Mile in My Boots brings together thousands of South Australians to walk in solidarity alongside people at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

The challenge culminates in our community event The Final Mile – on Friday 9 August, 2024.

The Final Mile is more than just a walk; it's a powerful statement of community, empathy, and action. By coming along to The Final Mile, you are helping to raise awareness homelessness and supporting the Hutt St Centre to continue to provide essential services and support to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

All registered participants are invited to attend The Final Mile for FREE! Please RSVP to attend.

Event Day

We're sure you've already added it to your calendar, but in case you missed it, here are the details:

Date: Friday 9 August
Time: 7:00am to 9:00am
Where: Starting at Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Grandstand) to Wita Wirra (Park 18)
FREE hot breakfast at the finish line
Walkers leave at 7:15am

What to wear:
There’s no dress code but it’s likely to be COLD so wear the same clothes as on your morning walks.

This is a great chance to show off any rewards you’ve earned while braving the chilly mornings, just like people sleeping rough do every day. We’d love to see your beanies, socks and T-shirts.

What to bring:
A water bottle, team spirit and your well-earned sense of achievement.

Getting to The Final Mile

The start line is conveniently located in the CBD and easily accessible by bus, bike or even scooter!

Where possible please consider the environment and consider catching public transport or carpooling to the event as car parking in the area is limited.

To help further reduce the impact on local traffic and commuters we are leaving the start line a little earlier this year at 7:15 am. Please make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the start line by 7am to grab a hot drink and your well-deserved merch!

If you are driving, please note the road closures listed about and check traffic.sa.gov.au for further updates.

Walking The Final Mile
This year our walking route is taking us along a new path!

This path will have far less impact on traffic and increased safety for participants.
