Helping end homelessness for every person who walks
through our doors since 1954
Hutt St Centre is a place of connection and support, where people facing homelessness are empowered to rebuild their lives, rediscover their identities and reconnect with those who love them.
We walk alongside people on their journey toward homefulness—a word we use to describe the feeling of safety, control and confidence that comes with having a place to call home.
When people walk through our doors we help fulfil their immediate needs, like a shower, a meal, and a charged phone, while our 20+ visiting services provide support ranging from medical check-ups to financial counselling.
And with a focus on the future, we connect people with housing, education and employment opportunities to build the skills and confidence to change their circumstances for good.
About Walk a Mile in My Boots
Since 2008, South Australians have come together each winter in August to take part in Walk a Mile in My Boots to show their support for people experiencing homelessness.
In 2023, thousands of people laced up their boots and took on the Walk a Mile in My Boots Challenge.
Together, they stepped up to go the extra mile and raised over $550,000 to give hope to more than 7,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia. What an incredible achievement!
The Walk a Mile in My Boots challenge is back for 2024!
This year, we are challenging you to Walk a Mile or more during National Homelessness Week from 5 to 11 August. It can be in the park, at the gym, by the beach or around the neighbourhood.
Then, you will be invited to join us to walk The Final Mile together in person on Friday 9 August 2024 and experience just how challenging winter mornings can be.
Help us end homelessness for over 7,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia.
Thank you for sharing our vision to end homelessness. And thank you for helping to create a brighter future for people doing it tough
