Demonstrating the power of kindness

National Homelessness Week is coming up, and I’ve decided to take on the challenge. This year, my decision to participate in Hutt St Centre’s ‘Walk A Mile In My Boots’ Challenge is inspired by someone very special: my son, Mitchell.

Mitchell has always had an incredibly compassionate heart. Even at a young age, he notices when someone is struggling and is often the first to ask how he can help. Recently, he’s been asking a lot of questions about homelessness, wondering why some people don’t have warm beds and homes to live in like we do. His genuine desire to see more kindness in the world and his encouragement to do helpful things for others truly moves me every time.

So, this National Homelessness Week, I’ve committed to walking 5km every single day. While it’s just a small step compared to the daily challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness in SA, it's a symbolic commitment to "Walk a Mile in Their Boots."

I’m once again proudly walking to raise crucial funds for Hutt St Centre. They are an amazing organisation that has been providing a safe, welcoming space and essential support services like hot meals, warm showers, healthcare, and housing assistance, to people in need for over 70 years.

My goal is to raise as much as possible to help Hutt St Centre continue their life-changing work. I would be so grateful if you would support my walk by making a donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference in providing dignity, hope, and a pathway to a better future for someone experiencing homelessness.

Thank you for your generosity and for demonstrating to Mitchell the true power of kindness.
