Wilma’s Walkers

We're helping to end homelessness

So, full disclosure, I was originally planning on rallying a team to walk with me this year, but I have to be pragmatic about what I can manage.

Moving house a few weeks ago lead to a massive increase in back pain that lead to my new diagnosis of severe osteoarthritis in my spine, in addition to the rheumatoid arthritis.  I don’t have the spoons (IYKYK) to rally a team together. I’m focused on ohysio for my back and a modest target to walk one kilometre a day.

One step at a time.

Oh, and who’s Wilma? Wilma’s my walking stick. I’m currently using two sticks to better support my back.. That’d be Wilma 1.0 and Wilma 2.0.

I’ll soon be upgrading to a wheelie walker, as recommended by my physio. I think I’ll just have to call her Betty.

…..

This National Homelessness Week, we'll be walking a mile (or more!) to raise funds for the 7,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia.

All funds go to Hutt St Centre, who have been supporting people at risk of or experiencing homelessness for nearly 70 years by providing essential support and wellbeing services all in a safe, welcoming space.

We'd be so grateful for your support! If you can’t join us in the challenge (We'd welcome the company), please give generously to our donation page.

Together we can help end homelessness.
