Housing is the basis of stability and security for an individual or family. The centre of our social, emotional, and sometimes economic lives, a home should be a sanctuary—a place to live in peace, security and dignity – United Nations.Your support is appreciated ❤️
Let's help end homelessness.
This National Homelessness Week, I'll be walking a mile (or more!) to raise funds for the 7,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia.
All funds go to Hutt St Centre, who have been supporting people at risk of or experiencing homelessness for nearly 70 years by providing essential support and wellbeing services all in a safe, welcoming space.
Here's some statistics for the people experiencing homelessness in Adelaide:
54% have experienced family or relationship breakdown
53% of people become homeless after losing their accommodation, like the end of a lease agreement
39% are facing financial difficulties
39% have experienced family and domestic violence
34% are suffering from mental health issues
How you can help:
1. Donate today - any amount, big or small, contributes to providing a warm place to sleep, a hot shower, a hot meal.
2. Volunteer at one of the community food programs
3. Donate goods such as food, clothes (without holes and damage), blankets, backpacks, drink bottles, thermos' and any other items that might help get our vulnerable people through the cold winter to The Hutt Street Centre - if you are unable to make it, I am also accepting goods donations to drop off at the end of August.
I'd be so grateful for your support! If you can’t join me in the challenge (I'd welcome the company), please give generously to my donation page.
Together we can help our vulnerable population and work towards ending homelessness.
